Good News for the Tobas

June 2011

Michael and Silvia Browne
with Kevin and Christopher

Our vision for the ongoing work with the Toba Indians is being fulfilled! We have been greatly encouraged by work already done by the Toba translators, Hilario and José.

The Bible translation work is continuing: Hilario and José have nearly finished the first draft translations of the Minor Prophets (Hosea to Malachi). Michael will begin the checking process.

Over the coming months, we plan to produce some literacy materials for primary school children, based on Bible stories.

And the music workshops have already begun. Later this year, or early next, Michael plans to give Bible teaching on various aspects of Christian music and worship.

Further details of these projects and a budget proposal

can be found in the Projects pages.

Toba children, Juárez

Michael recently visited the Pilagá Indians to the east, where the Argentine Bible Society presented audio CDs and solar-powered mp3 players containing the Gospels and Acts in their language (very similar to Toba).

They also have the New Testament (published in 1992) and are keen to continue with the recordings and to translate the Old Testament as well. But at present there is no one available to coordinate this work.

Chris is learning violin, and likes to play in church alongside Kevin, who plays the drums. At weekends, Kevin likes horse-riding, often with his friend Renzo.
