• The checking of the Toba NT is finished! - Give thanks to God for this major achievement! Bishop David Leake in Norfolk and Hilario Tenaiquín in Juárez played a crucial role in the final stages.
• Typesetting - The Toba NT is now being typeset by the Argentine Bible Society in Buenos Aires. The first proofs had several errors, so now Michael is waiting to have it back again to proof read for a second time.
• Printing - This will be done in Korea, once the typesetting is complete. Please pray there will be no holdups and that the New Testaments arrive safely, ready for a presentation in August.
• Michael’s role during 2010 - It has been agreed between the Diocese of Northern Argentina and CMS that Michael should spend this year helping the Tobas to read their New Testaments (once they arrive), with short courses and basic literacy materials. Please pray for God’s provision during this year and for a future projects related to the translation work.
• Toba churches - pray for pastors, deacons and their families, especially Pastor Kichi who is the Toba representative on the Diocesan Council. Remember the family of Pastor Setaqain who died last month. Pray too for René Pereira’s ministry amongst the young people. Pray for the translators Osvaldo, José and Hilario and their families.
• Anglican Church of N Argentina - pray that God would raise up new leaders with vision and spiritual authority to take on the challenges of today’s church. Pray for Bishop Nick Drayson and Catherine adjusting to life in Juárez: for effective ministry in building up and strengthening the Toba, Wichí and Chorote churches.
• Family safety and well being - as we await the dedication of the Toba New Testament, pray that the Lord would guard and protect us against all the enemies’ schemes and attacks. Remember especially Kevin and Chris who are often targets for these attacks. Pray for safety on the roads as we travel, both with the chaotic traffic in the towns and for Michael on his 300 mile trips to Juárez.
• Argentina - pray for President Cristina Fernández and the national and provincial governments, for determination in tackling the recession, inflation and unemployment as well as corruption and injustice.
Pray for the typesetting of the Toba New Testament, in the hands of the Argentine Bible Society, and the printing to be done in Korea.
Pray for safe arrival of the New Testaments back in Argentina, in time for the presentation in August.
