We’re now working on Hebrews, the only remaining book that needs a lot of work to get ready for publishing. Bishop David Leake plans to be with us from April to June, so during these next months pray that we can spend a good time in Juárez with the translators, and that good progress on the final checking will be made. Pray that by the end of this year the Toba NT will be in the hands of the Argentine Bible Society for publishing mid 2009.
Please continue to pray for the Toba churches, for the pastors and their families, and for translators Osvaldo, José and Hilario and their families.
As floodwaters come down the River Pilcomayo, pray that the Toba villages would not be badly hit.
Please pray for the Lord to protect us at all times, and for good health. Pray especially for Silvia who is undergoing treatment for an early menopause, consequently suffering much anxiety, stress and depression.
Summer holidays didn’t give us much rest, but a short break away did us good. The boys are now back at school, Kevin in 4th year of Junior School and Chris at preschool. Kevin is nine on 22nd March - don’t they grow up fast!
Church has had a very difficult time recently, with Pastor José suffering “burn out” at the end of last year, and still not really recovered. He had a bad disagreement with Silvia last month which has left us wondering where things go from here. There is now no Junior Church, so in the short term we are looking for another church nearby where at least Kevin and Chris can go. Please pray for this very difficult situation.
Pray for President Cristina Kirchner and the Argentine government, with inflation still rising and pay talks with many unions still going on. Pray for effective policies to deal with two critical issues: (1) insufficiency in energy production and (2) huge numbers of road accidents.
Now that the road to Juárez is paved all the way, there is a new direct coach service once a day from Salta, so travel has become much easier: it’s a 10 hour journey, but comfortable and reliable.
Pray for Michael to be able to make monthly visits this year, for safety on dangerous roads (many accidents), and remember Silvia, Kevin and Chris at home while Michael is away.
